This creamy vegan avocado pasta is a great alternative if you are looking for a creamy pasta dish that doesn’t contain animal products.

I love avocado. In fact, I went through an avocado toast phase where I ate avocado just about every day for a year. After that, I started to branch out and find different ways to incorporate avocado into my meals.
If you are vegan or just looking to cut back on the amount of animal products in your diet, avocado is a great way to mimic the creaminess of dairy products. That’s why it works so well in this pasta dish!
Plus, avocados are very nutrient dense and contain lots of healthy fats to support your hormonal health. Whether you are a vegan or not, this pasta dish will not disappoint.

Nutritional benefits of avocado
Not only are avocado delicious, they also have a wide variety of nutrients to support your overall health and well beinHalf of an avocado contains about 120 calories, 6 grams of carbohydrates, 10 grams of fat and 1 gram of protein. The fats from the avocado comes from mostly monounsaturated fats, which can help lower your cholesterol and decrease risk for heart disease.
Avocados also contain a variety of vitamins and minerals which support health. Specifically, avocados are a good source of B vitamins, folate, vitamin K and potassium.
Knowing all this information, I can confirm that avocados are nutritious and a great addition to your diet, especially if you want to improve your cholesterol levels.
Tip: Make sure the avocado you use is ripe. To check, lightly press down on the avocado. If it is hard, it’s not ripe. If it feel a bit squishy, it’s good to eat!

What makes this recipe vegan?
This recipe is vegan because it doesn’t contain any animal products. If you compare it to your typical creamy pasta dish, you can see it doesn’t include any cheese, cream, butter or meat of any kind.
In place of cheese, we use nutritional yeast, which has a similar flavor, without the dairy. To mimic the creaminess, we add avocado, which is naturally creamy due to it’s high fat content.
While vegan doesn’t automatically equal healthy, this recipe is probably the healthier choice due to the lower saturated fat content. The only downside is that it is low in calcium. A typical creamy pasta dish would contain a good amount of calcium due to the dairy products used.

What equipment do I need for this Creamy Vegan Avocado Pasta?
You will need a blender and a pot to boil the pasta. That’s it! If you don’t have a blender, a food processor will also work. This recipe is much better when the sauce is thoroughly mixed together and nice and creamy.
